v17 Editor experience: A ${template} for success

Virtual

13:00—14:30 — America/New_York

Full Details

Online event

21 RSVPed

Editor experience isn’t just a nice‑to‑have — it’s what makes or breaks an Umbraco build. With Umbraco v17 and the first LTS of the new backoffice, we’re entering a new era of content editing powered by Bellissima… while also saying goodbye to some familiar comforts like AngularJS.

In this this month's Meetup, Joe Glombek will walk through how developers can design richer, more intuitive editor experiences using modern Umbraco tools. We’ll dig into blocks, templated labels, the newly introduced Umbraco Flavored Markdown (UFM), and when it makes sense to reach for custom views and project‑specific extensions.

Whether you’re managing complex content models, onboarding new editors, or just tired of hearing complaints about the backoffice, this talk will give you practical ideas for building editing experiences that are elegant, structured, and editor‑friendly — without sacrificing developer sanity.

Come for the Umbraco insights, stay for the community, discussion, and post‑talk Q&A with fellow Umbraco devs.

Phil Whittaker - The future of AI is Skilled

In-Person

18:00—20:00 — Europe/London

Full Details

CTI Digital, South Central, 11 Peter Street, Manchester, M2 5QR, Manchester, GB

LLMs are powerful, but they’re probabilistic, context-limited, and unreliable when asked to do everything at once. In this talk, Phil introduces Agent Skills: small, explicit, discoverable units of capability that actively manage context, guidance, and deterministic behaviour. Instead of relying on massive prompts or generic agents, skills load only what’s needed for a task, guide the model with structure and rules, and delegate anything that must be exact to deterministic code.

Using real examples and an Umbraco-friendly mindset, this session explores the anatomy of a skill, how skills are triggered and composed, and why this approach produces more predictable, maintainable AI systems. The future of AI isn’t autonomous agents guessing their way through problems — it’s skilled systems designed with intent.

Who Should Attend

This meetup is ideal for:

  • Umbraco developers and .NET engineers
  • Technical leads and architects
  • Developers curious about AI beyond hype and surface-level demos

No prior AI or machine learning experience is required — just an interest in building systems that behave intentionally.

Why It's Worth Attending:

This meetup is more than just a talk about AI trends. It’s an opportunity to explore a more disciplined, engineering-led approach to AI, connect with the local Umbraco community, and take part in thoughtful discussions about where AI fits — and where it doesn’t — in modern software development.

Agenda

18:00 – Open for Mingling 18:30 – Pizza and Beer 19:00 – Talk: The Future of AI Is Skilled 19:45 – Open Social + Refreshments

All About Migrations: Umbraco Explained

Virtual

16:00—17:00 — Asia/Kolkata

Full Details

Online event

12 RSVPed

Join us at the Umbraco Meetup, In this session we explores different ways of implementing Umbraco migrations, focusing on how custom data and database changes are handled within Umbraco projects.

Although the goal is the same safe and repeatable migrations—the implementation can vary based on project needs, complexity, and execution strategy. We’ll discuss:

  • How migration approaches differ in execution and structure
  • When to choose one approach over another
  • Trade-offs around performance, safety, and maintainability
  • Real-world scenarios from production projects

The session is intended to help developers understand how to think about Umbraco migrations, rather than just how to write them.

Hele programmet:

kl. 16:00 Ankomst
