AI tools are appearing everywhere, but introducing them into a company is about much more than simply giving everyone access to ChatGPT or Copilot.

For this meetup, we’re going to have an open discussion about how organisations are approaching AI adoption in practice.

We’ll start by talking about how Umbraco HQ is approaching the onboarding and use of AI internally. Including some of the thinking around tools, experimentation, opportunities and the challenges that come with introducing AI into everyday work.

Then we want to open the conversation up to the room.

How are other companies approaching AI? Are you actively encouraging people to use it, still experimenting, or putting policies and guardrails in place first? What tools are people actually using? What’s working well, and what are you still unsure about?

Rather than a traditional presentation, this will be an informal discussion where we can compare experiences, ideas and approaches from across the Umbraco community.

Whether your company has a fully fledged AI strategy, a few enthusiastic early adopters, or you’re still working out where to begin, come along and join the conversation.

As always, there'll be plenty of time before and after the discussion to network with fellow Umbraco developers, designers, editors and digital professionals over pizza and drinks.

Whether you're completely new to Umbraco or a long-time community member, everyone is welcome.

He'll also share some tips around how different front-end and delivery technologies might influence the publishing strategies you choose.
• Ghosts of Umbraco Past: Coding Practices to Lay to Rest in 2027 (Preview / Work in Progress) by Joe Glombek This session is an early preview of my UMBUK26 talk, so expect a work in progress rather than the polished conference version. Some coding practices were the right choice once—but modern Umbraco has moved on. In this session, we'll look at common patterns and habits that are ready to be laid to rest in 2027, why they're no longer the best approach, and the modern alternatives that can help keep your Umbraco projects cleaner, faster, and easier to maintain. Your feedback will help shape the final conference talk.

A Path to AI Orchestration & Automation within Umbraco Development: Matthew Wise – Umbraco MVP

The goal: ticket to pull request while you sleep. Going through how to setup a project, to use Jira automations and Claude routines to deliver the solutions you need.

Not everything is solvable yet sometimes you still need to work locally, so I’ll show you how I work on multiple tickets at once using git worktrees, SQLite and uSync/Umbraco.Deploy.

The result is a practical checklist. Whatever your stack looks like this is possible. Here's what must be true before you can hand a ticket to an agent and get back a reviewable, Umbraco-aware pull request.

A pattern that made sense when you learned it (recommended in a blog post, baked into a starter kit, or simply "how it's done") can quietly become the wrong choice once the platform moves on; it doesn't matter whether your project is brand new or years old. This talk takes a tour through Umbraco habits that are still common today but no longer serve us as well as they used to. We'll look at performance patterns that made sense before the underlying behaviour changed, content architecture that seems developer-friendly but frustrates editors, and technical choices - from redirects to front-end bundling - that had good reasons once and better alternatives now. Expect a technical, practical session with real code and real config.
